Job Summary:
Steeletech LLC is seeking a skilled and experienced DBA/Data Engineer to join our team in Washington DC. As a DBA/Data Engineer, you will play a critical role in managing and optimizing our organization's databases and data infrastructure. You will be responsible for database design, implementation, maintenance, performance tuning, and ensuring the security and integrity of our data. Your expertise in database technologies, data modeling, and data integration will be essential in supporting our data-driven initiatives and enabling effective decision-making.
• Key Responsibilities:
• Design, implement, and maintain databases, data models, and data integration solutions
• Optimize database performance and ensure the availability, reliability, and scalability of database systems
• Perform database tuning, monitoring, and capacity planning to maximize performance and efficiency
• Implement and enforce data security and privacy measures to protect sensitive data
• Develop and maintain data backup and recovery strategies and procedures
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data requirements and design appropriate database solutions
• Develop and implement data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) processes to ensure data accuracy and consistency
• Perform data validation and quality assurance to identify and resolve data inconsistencies and anomalies
• Troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues and provide timely support to address user inquiries
• Stay updated with the latest database technologies, trends, and best practices
• Collaborate with data analysts and data scientists to support their data needs and enable effective data analysis and reporting
• Requirements: Train end-users on SharePoint functionality and provide technical support when needed
Required Skills and Experience:
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent work experience)
• Proven experience as a DBA/Data Engineer or in a similar role
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
• Strong knowledge of database management systems (DBMS) such as SQL Server, Oracle, or MySQL
• Proficiency in SQL and database query optimization
• Experience in database design, data modeling, and database schema management
• Familiarity with data integration and ETL tools (e.g., Informatica, SSIS, Talend)
• Knowledge of database security, backup, and recovery procedures
• Understanding of data governance and data quality concepts
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with meticulous attention to detail
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams
• Experience with cloud-based database platforms (e.g., AWS RDS, Azure SQL Database) is a plus
• Familiarity with big data technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Spark) and NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB, Cassandra) is a plus
• Database certifications (e.g., Oracle Certified Professional, Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate) are a plus
